I think today I'll try to post this with pictures.
Alu and I are working on our custom colored Unicorn and Banshee models. She's farther along than I am because I've been putting off sanding, so I'm still in that stage while she's already putting hers together. She's also actually had a color scheme concept done for some time now. Unfortunately, as I'm so easily distracted, I've fallen quite behind. So if I want to post my concept alongside hers in this post, I'll have to actually make it first, but in the meantime, here's Alu's Volcanic Banshee:
And maybe I'll get to post my Arctic Unicorn at the tail end here.
For some reason, we've been having a hard time with today. Saturdays always see us pretty tired from getting up in the morning, but today is particularly bad. I'm sure this type of post is hardly unique, but it always catches us off guard. We're supposed to make it to the gym today, but I'm not convinced it will happen since we've forgotten our gym attire and are feeling generally... not great.
Anyway, I've spent the day mostly trying to absorb tutorials about creating ice effects on models for the psychoframe on my Unicorn, which you've hopefully seen and which will hopefully look super cool. I'm a bit worried our lack of experience will make it pretty difficult, but from what I can tell, at least part of each of the techniques I've seen involve a regular brush at least for the finer detail work, so that might work to mitigate disaster. On the other hand, I'm not sure how much has actually sunk in, so I'm sure I'll have to watch several videos over again at least once when it gets closer to painting time.
I'm also hoping to make a kind of matte-ish snow look on the armor, which I'm thinking will be a bit easier. And finally and least likely, I'm hoping to do a bit of icicle work on some of the extremities, especially the v-fin.
All-in-all, a pretty ambitious project for someone who's never done most of the things involved, but I'm sure it will turn out fine.
