Goal Reflection Day: Decemeber 30th, 2018

I liked the way Rok did his goals last time so I am going to copy that. I currently don't have loot tied to goals, I should probably change that soon. Fitness Based Attach Loot to My Goals I have just put this on here so as of current this complete. Reach Weight Goal (160 lbs) I hit my last goal of weighing under 200 recently, I have since gone back up over since, not by much though so I am still calling that one accomplished and am going to continue working toward a healthy weight. This morning, I weighed 201.4 lbs. Lift Three Times per week In the last week we have consistently lifted Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Go us! Do Cardio Four Times per Week We haven't been keeping up doing as much cario as we should to go along with our lifting. We try to do yoga on Tuesdays, Do Wii Fit on Thursdays and Sundays and we go running on Saturdays. We have sort of done most of those these last two weeks. We are going to try harder to stick with it, plus the holidays d...

The Internet Broke

As many of you probably know, Century Link is having issues with their Internet servers right now. Making our job close to unbearable. I want to start by saying I don 't want to sound ungrateful or anything. I am glad I have a job I can complain about, and I know it is not a difficult job but sometimes you need to let some stress out by venting in a public forum. So here goes: our job sucks, that's why we are taking a class to get a new job.  First let me explain what our job is a little bit: We caption calls for those who are hard of hearing and need assistance on the phone. Which is a neat service we provide that helps people engage with the outside world easier. But it also seems like half of our clients don't use the captions and the other half think we are never doing our job good enough when we are trying our best to understand mumbling, through static, feedback and sometimes trying to caption two or three voices that all talk at once. So with that being said, our j...

A Day to Rest

Yesterday was pretty busy, but it was fun I got some really cool presents and had some nice meals. Overall I think this was a good Christmas, and I might even dare to say a good year. We started a class to help us get better jobs. We started this blog, had some rough patches and will hopefully have smooth sailing going into next year. I also got my wisdom teeth out so I won't have random horrible pain in my mouth for a week every once in a while. So I think we are doing alright. But today Rok and I are excited to do nothing today, after the last month of running around all the time. It will be a nice change of pace for us. We can sit down and play games and enjoy all the cool stuff that we got for Christmas! We don't have to make any food, we don't have to craft or wrap any presents, we don't have to leave the house if we don't want! Being an adult can be rad, but it is not inherently. But for now, as we are doing right now, please: Stay Cool.

Christmas Eve

It's finally here, the day before the merriest holiday. My moms side of the family however chooses to celebrate today, because it is easier than trying to get five independent families together who also have to plan around their other family members. So I am pretty excited for tonight, I can finally give my mom her present that took me several months to make, and that literally has my blood, sweat and tears in it. I can also give Rok a gift I think he will like a lot, but I am little sad I couldn't get the handmade gift made in time. But his birthday is next month so I can hopefully finish it by then. Also I get to open one of Rok's gifts for me, so that is exciting. He seems certain I will like them, and that he nailed it this year. We also have some plans for tomorrow as well, A brunch with Rok's mom and her boyfriend, lunch at my grandparents, and dinner with my mom and sister. So while we have a full day of stuff to do it is all pretty relaxed stuff and that is e...

Goal Reflection Day: Dec. 23 2018

So it's my first goal reflection day for a while and I've restructured some of my goals. I'm also adopting a loot system to hopefully help me stay on top of them. Ideally, loot for a goal is something related to the goal itself and that might help with similar goals in the future. At the very least, it shouldn't be detrimental. It seems counterintuitive, for example, to celebrate keeping up with your diet for a month with a trip to Golden Corral. Maybe instead get a new knife that might help you prep your food faster or a cool new set of gym clothes that you'll want to show off. Those are helpful pieces of loot. So lets begin. Fitness Based Bench 100 lbs. (Bar+55) Alu and I have been lifting at the gym recently and we had to start with just the bar. It's my understanding that a regular barbell is 45 pounds on its own and we've been adding more to it pretty quickly, so we might hit this goal before too long! So I guess I'd better figure out...

Christmas is irritating

Christmas itself is fine. It's a good chance to have fun with family/friends, have some good food, play games, whatever. It's a good time. Conversely and contrary to what some songs might tell you, the month leading up to Christmas is the most obnoxious time of the year. I'm not a big fan of the cold and snow to begin with, but combine that with the stress everyone feels, whether they admit it or not, from having to make everything perfect, and you end up with everyone in everyone else's way for a whole month. Between people rushing around looking for the perfect gifts for people, amassing their ingredients for the perfect Christmas dinner, and not knowing how to drive in the snow (it happens every year, you'd think people would figure it out by now, but nobody really does, myself included), God help you if you just need to run to the store for a loaf of bread for the week. I'm also not convinced that reserving 1/12th of the year for the spirit of giving i...

RDR2 might be awesome for all I know

Image
I've talked in the past about being impressed with the increasing level of detail in a lot of video games. As I've thought more about it though, I've come to the conclusion that, as technically impressive as it may be that the horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 have testicles which realistically shrink in the cold (and I'm assuming this is limited to the male horses), getting them to do that seems like a massive waste of time. It would be putting it lightly to say that I don't understand what things like that are supposed to add to a game other than unnecessary realism for its own sake. I understand that a higher level of detail can benefit a game greatly if applied well, but this really just feels frivolous (what a thing to say about a video game, right?). Granted I haven't actually played the game and I likely wouldn't have regardless, but I can't help thinking about how, in the 20 years since Ocarina of Time came out, I've never once noticed or ca...

I just bought a kindle from Alu's mom

I just read the book, Mind Hacking . I enjoy reading some self-help material because, if nothing else, it makes me feel like I'm making an effort to improve myself and my life, even if that often ends up not actually being the case. However, this is the first full book I've read on the subject and I found it pretty enlightening. The core concept, as I understand it, revolves around understanding the negative thoughts you subconsciously repeat to yourself (referred to as negative loops) and replacing them with increasingly positive ones, and it provides several methods for each step of this process. For example, once you find an undesired thought loop, simply ask yourself why you feel/act this way. Then once you determine that answer, ask yourself why that's the case, continuing to ask why until you reach the root cause. This is complimented by practicing gamified focus meditation and making a lot of goals, both grandiose, long-term goals and small sub-goals that act as ...

Goal Reflection Day: December 10th-16th

Hey! My teeth still hurt! Weigh in under 200: Completed(ish)! While I didn't hit this goal on the 9th, I have hit it by this Sunday so I am going to count it as completed! Stream on Monday and Fridays: Ongoing We have streamed probably. Lift weights on Wednesdays: Ongoing We have been sick my dudes and I had my wisdom teeth out, I am not actually sure when we will get back to this. It might be this Wednesday but I don't know when we will get back into our groove, hopefully soon. Do yoga mornings: Ongoing I am still unsure of how this will fit into our current schedule or if it will fit. I guess we will just wait and see. Today I weighed: 198.9 Hopefully this week is better than last. If it's not please, for my sake: Stay cool.

Our Second Day Back To Work (my teeth holes hurt)

Once again sorry for not posting Wednesday and putting up a bad post Monday, but to be fair I had four newly made holes in my face that were trying to fill themselves with tissue. So anyway Rok and I started back to work yesterday, and it was pretty awful for the usual reasons of having to talk for 8 hours pretty much straight but I was still experiencing some jaw pain. So that wasn't fun, but luckily they have Tylenol in the medicine cabinet at work that did help me through my shift. Although there was still more jaw pain than I would have preferred while waiting for the meds to kick in. Today is going better at least, though we did get more sleep last night than the night before. On Wednesday we get maybe four hours of combined sleep. I say we because I accidentally woke Rok up every time I turned to start a new video to try and fall asleep to, or get up to go to the bathroom, or just toss and turn because I can't get comfortable. So last night was better, I at least stayed ...

Post Wisdom Teeth Removal

The new schedule hasn’t exactly been working out, but I don’t want to get to much on Rok about it though because he has been taking care of me since Friday morning pretty much. I had all four wisdom teeth removed and have been laying in bed pretty much since. But Rok has been doing all sorts to help me out in this time of pain. This is probably also going to be a bit shorter than I would like it because of the jaw pain in combination with the pain meds for the jaw pain.  I will probably not blog Wednesday due to the Sam thing but wanted to get an update out today. But hey thanks for listening and don’t forget: Stay cool.

Better days and teeth

I missed blogging again yesterday, but this time it was totally my fault. We were just playing Timespinner most of the day, which was a welcome change. And that was after we got done with all the stuff we were supposed to have done on Monday. And then we got to go to class and learn to use an engine lathe, so all in all a pretty good day. We even made cookies. Alu's getting her wisdom teeth out tomorrow and we're off work until next thursday about it. It'd be a pretty good birthday for her except for that first part. Though maybe she'll like the painkillers and hopefully the birthday presents I got her will help distract somewhat. She gets to open the small one tonight, but the big one gets to wait until tomorrow. I'm pretty excited because this is the first year I really feel like I've gotten both her birthday and Christmas covered pretty well, but there is one more thing I might end up getting for her. I'll post more about that later, since she usual...

Obnoxious time shenanigans!

It's strange how things that seem like they should be simple and quick sometimes end up taking a whole day. I was supposed to start my blogging week yesterday, but we spent a good chunk of the day yesterday trying to take a bed out of Alu's mom's house, which I wouldn't have thought would take three hours, and because of where that ended up getting placed in between plans, we ended up having no time to blog or indeed clean up our house as we try to do on Mondays, which means we now have to spread chores out through the rest of the week. On a more positive note, we did get a Splatoon stream up in the morning before that whole debacle. We've resolved to keep the stream limited to lighter, less story-based games, which will hopefully make it seem less daunting and I think I'll enjoy it more that way. We also think we have a decent schedule worked out, which we should probably list on our twitch channel and twitter bio and stuff, now that I think about it. So ...

Goal Reflection Day: Novemver 26th-December 2nd

So it's been a while since anyone has done any reflecting of goals on this blog, so here goes to try and start it back up. Weigh in under 200: Due 12/9/18 I am starting to lose faith in this goal, I have been sitting around 200 for a while now but haven't been able to get below as of yet. I think we have made some bad choices with our diets recently, but I do think I have been making progress with going to the gym (Not this week because we have been sick.) Stream on Monday and Fridays: Ongoing We were talking about this on Friday as well when we were talking about if we should continue blogging, and we both feel we enjoy gaming more when we can sit back and relax and not have to worry about being entertaining. But we think we are going to give it another try since we have joined a community of small time streamers. Lift weights on Wednesdays: Ongoing We have been sick my dudes. Do yoga mornings: Ongoing We have been sick but even before that we haven't quite fig...

We Think We Figured Something Out

As those of you who read yesterdays blog already know, Rok and I were trying to decide what to do with this blog. We think we came to a conclusion: We blog every other day starting on Monday's. So we blog every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (excluding the holidays for now). Switching between the two of us every week. This will hopefully give us more time to write better material for the blog and we can hopefully avoid "this is just to show I blogged today" type of blogs. Some other things will be different as well, we won't be posting food logs and we will only be posting our weight on our Goal Reflection Day. Which will still be on Sunday. We are also going to mainly stick to our thoughts on things, things that happen in our lives, and general life things. But we also might have a post that isn't related to us, we might write something more creative or something of the like. These changes will take effect tomorrow, and on Monday I will hand it off to ...
